What About Conversation?

I was happy to see that 47 people have finally watched my daughter's graduation speech.  For a little while there I was wondering if I broke it in the 5 hours it took to upload.  It is still interesting to me that in this day of social media, with all the technical advances to help us communicate -- we still do it very little.  We type a post or forward someone else's pithy statement - then we will "like" it (signifying agreement) or we say nothing.  Wait a minute, what about healthy debate and free discussion of ideas - whatever happened to that?

Whenever I write or post something I hope it will cause people to think or discuss it.  Can't we just discuss the issues of the day without bashing each other?  I know it takes some thought - but, I think we can!  Next time you see a post from me, I would appreciate hearing what you think -- what you really think.  You don't have to be mean or run me down - just tell me what you think - maybe you'll change my mind.  Good luck with that by the way, ha ha!

Lily Beth Grad Video

I know most often we like things that we can quickly glance at and push "like."  I encourage you to listen to this video.  It is probably the best graduation speech I have heard in about 10 years.  Why?  Because it is about something.  Americans need to learn how to dialogue about issues once again.  My wise young graduate is not really a "rebel" at all.  I see her as a young Solomon that isn't afraid to question life and see what answers come out.  If you believe in God, God should be big enough to handle our questions.  But, I don't think God is pleased when we simply follow another person.  I challenge you to take 4 1/2 minutes and listen to this challenging video.  Make a comment if you want, but make sure it's constructive.
